The Collective Agreement that is currently in effect between
SaskTel and the CEP expires on March 20, 2010. The proposal package CEP put forward to the Company was
developed through extensive consultation with the membership. In preparation
for this round of bargaining, the ·
Over the summer months we distributed proposal forms to CEP
members at SaskTel. ·
The proposals were discussed in Local Bargaining Caucuses and
passed on to the Provincial Caucus held in Yorkton in October. Provincial
Caucus Each Local sent three delegates to the Provincial Caucus where
they met with the Local Presidents, the SaskCouncil Bargaining Committee
nominees and the National Representative. Every proposal was discussed,
debated and voted on. After four intensive days, the final bargaining package
was developed. The Provincial Caucus not only determines what proposals will go
forward, but also sets the priorities for the Bargaining Committee. Once the package is developed, it is up to
the Bargaining Committee to develop arguments for each proposal and then
present that justification to the Company. In December 2009, we presented our package to SaskTel which
consisted of 62 proposals along with 4 housekeeping issues. In turn, SaskTel
tabled 30 demands that they wish to discuss with the |
